Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

Here are pics of my 6 month olds- Rocky and Pebbles (no Bam Bam- it didn't "stick'). The pic of the pair of them is kinda funky looking because it was taken in a dark building (rained today). It looks like it would be like a painting, if I had a background.

Wish I was talented like that.
They are a good looking pair Pam! He looks a lot like my dark boy.

Here is a better picture.

Is that possibly a lavender partridge cross? Another cute baby. Could lavender dilute the coloring like that Dian and Suze?

Could this be a lavender partridge cross? Another cute baby, love the look on it's face. Dian and Sonoran, could lavender dilute the coloring this way?

Nice pair Pam! Your boy looks a lot like my dark boy I think.

The Lavender would dilute the back as well, making the back the light lavender gray with very light gold so no - its not a Lavender Partridge. That pure white look on its chest has really got me confused. Have you ever seen a bird with a white chest and undersides and a dark top? Its probably just some breed I haven't looked at - but most birds have a salmon or tan chest if they are girls, or darker chests for boys - never this white....

I believe it is a girl and I wanted to put it into my Partridge group. You think this bird is Breeder quality? I know he/she is still young (around 2 month) and probably still change a little. Just want to hear your thoughts.

Thanks for the reply about my Partridge pair! I don't know how to "quote" certain post, when they are mixed together, so I'll just saw it here. I won't mess anything up as badly if I do it here!

Quote: Too young to tell. Breeder Quality means no defects that can't be removed in the second generation, and as long as it has 5 toes, black skin, blue ears, black eyes and silkied feathers it will be fine. The extent of the Quality will only be seen when it grows up Come back in another two months with more pictures - I really would like to see what the final colors of this one is going to be.

Quotes on the computer are easy, quotes on the phones can be a problem. When you quote something you can remove what you don't want to quote if they are all mixed together (just go into the quote and delete it). If you have it setup in your profile to only quote the latest response you won't have any earlier quotes in there (that is the default, you would have to change it if you want multiple quotes to show up). Try quoting and see, and if you don't like it you can clear the editor.

Yes, I have a silver partridge (or gray) that has a pure white chest and belly. Sonoran called it something that I always have to look it up.

How do you describe these great look birds? Are they black/partridge, partridge, or other? They look great!

Quote:
They are called Partridge. In order to be partridge they need the patterning gene (barely visible on their feathers) and a brown base with black feathers. If they have Blue feathers instead of Black then they are called Blue Partridge. If they are silver based instead of gold (brown/red) they are called Gray or Silver Partridge, depending on whether they got the pattern gene or not. Gray is not supposed to have the pattern gene, Silver Partridge is, but its so hard to see they often get called the other color with no correction. Partridge is my favorite color in a lot of birds, it just doesn't quite look the same in Silkies..
