Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I apologize if this is not the same program that was suggested for free. I could not remember what thread I had gotten the info from. The listed free art program put loads of viruses on my laptop and added a tool bar. It took my husband hours to clean my computer up. I do not recommend loading it AT ALL. I use an air card for internet and it cost me a lot of money in overages because of the viruses this "free" program was running things in the back ground.

Again, apologies if this is not the same. Just thought I would share my experience and wanted to let you guys know whoever downloaded it as well to check their computer for viruses.

For me, it was one more lesson that nothing is "free"

Your white roo might give you a partridge. Mine gave me two, mated with a splash hen. Depends of what colors he's hiding below the white.

Hello and Welcome to BYC

White in Silkies is like a can with its label taken off. Two copies of recessive White hide every other genetic color - so when you cross it to anything that is not white you never know what you may get. If you do cross out be aware that each chick carries one copy of recessive white, so crossing back to the rooster will give you 50% white and crossing the chicks together will give you 25% chance of White.

The short answer is, you won't know until you try it.

If I put a black pullet in with the partridge, could I get partridge? She and the partridges came from the same dad- so I'm pretty sure she has the gene. Pretty sure that is was the roo carrying the color (because he was white, and mom was Splash). Also, Partridge roo mated splash (two weeks before I am to get the pens separated by color). I might let the broodie's hatch them. If there is a good chance that they will come out either Partridge, or splash, I might. That will be a strange color mix if they came out mixed!

You might get Blue Partridge out of that mix if the Splash also hides Partridge... And if you are crossing Blue Partridge with Splash - you might get Splash Partridge - which WOULD be weird...

LOL- not crossing Patridge to splash on purpose. For Christmas, I have asked for wire and wood, and hubby's labor, to separate the pens.
