Ya got that right... I have 2 little culls of Connie's that I just love. Butter and Pepper. All I need is SALT!!! They are useless for anything but pets, but they are just so darn cute and follow me all over the place.

Yeah, the funny thing is I had given them baths on Tuesday because it was so hot, figured I'd freshen them up a bit. But yes, they do get a dunk every now and then. I have been giving them fruit and yogurt yesterday morning. I was relieved I didn't have any more losses today.
I do have an opportunity to get 2 black Ameraucanas from a breeder here. She has nice birds. I may go get them this weekend if I can find the time. She had a bunch of losses when they had to go out of state on a family emergency. The caretaker just didn't go that extra mile that we do with our birds. So sad.

Jen, I'm sorry you lost Princess.
Some people just don't know any better and some are just flat out ignorant....
I have been battling fertility here with my partridges and finally got one egg to be fertile! This morning it hatched and is soooooooo cute with its little vaulted skull
So I have a question... today I went to a breeder to pick up another barnevelder chick. She also breeds silkies, or what she calls silkies. I have 2 silkie chicks already and both are fluffy feathered. Hers have smooth actual feathers. Is this possible? Or is it a sizzle with smooth feathers. I did buy 2 pullets that were just adorable and one is termed a fizzled silkie (she said so) but has the actual feathers, not fluff. That one is a partridge! Cutest thing ever. I know I need to post a picture....
Yep as in they're smooth sizzle and frizzle sizzle? Look identical to pictures I've found.
the smooth sizzle is orange gold on head, chest, neck, then is black laced throughout the rest of her body. Very stunning. Doesn't seem like a normal color for any chicken I've come across. The partridge has some sort of lacing in her front half, then solid coloring in the back half. I will get pictures tomorrow and post. The poor gals sat at the bottom of the coop ramp when we went to close up the door. Everyone else was inside, but the breeder did mention they liked it outside. It was operation sizzle rescue!
