She sure does...love the orange band. My fav color.
Just for safety I always separate my broodies. I keep them separate until the chicks are about a month old before putting everyone back in the coop. This way Momma is still protective yet the babies are old enough to get away if they have to...fortunately my roos have all been very receptive to babies...I have a question about my P.Silkie hen. She has gone broody, and I have separated her from the small flock she is part of. Will there be a problem getting her back into the coop? Also, will the silkie Roo kill the babies, if any hatch? She hatched out 1 egg about 6 weeks ago, but it was dead in the coop when we found it.![]()
So, when she went broody again, I stuck a few extra eggs of her under her that she had laid the few days before broodiness set in.
