Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

She is on an empty nest and the rooster stays out of the box she is in, but half way through the day she comes out and nests in the open and then he screws the crap out of her. I'm thinking she may have to be put in a box or something. He isn't ripping feathers out of her thank goodness. He's young tho and full of himself.

Hurray! My new camera arrived yesterday afternoon and I actually figured out how to put most of it together! Still reading the manual. It's basic DSLR but still has more features than I'll ever want -- I really don't like taking moving pictures so got a basic model without all the advanced bells & whistles for moving pictures. TY @Hinotori and @Fancychooklady for all your help/advice on the Canon. I just hope I can take some decent pictures of my moving hens -- the little buggers never stay still!

Sports mode is still my most used on either camera. Getting the best pictures means getting the camera down on their level, though. I've spent many a day laying on the wet ground here trying to get a picture. Some days it's just too wet and I do my best. The tilt screen on the new camera makes it a little easier. Oh and a tripod can be useful.

I've been taking her picture once a week since I identified her sex at 5 weeks. It's been interesting seeing her change.

Did you get her DNAed or donyou just know? It looks like a girl just by how pretty she is, lol.

I know my line. The boys are never that coloring. Between 4 and 6 weeks I can sex them. The partridge are a bit easier than the solid colors. That and even though they have beards, the males get in tiny wattles. The very slight color change and size tells me boy. The girls are usually easier to sex earlier by feather color.

Yep, I figured Sports mode would be the most used. I'm 72 so getting on the ground w/chickens will be a challenge! I've looked into a camera bag that comes w a /tripod and cleaning kit and figured that would be a good way to go. I got the basic camera/lens rather than a pkg kit so I add only the accessories I'll really use. There was a Canon kit selling w/ an add'l telephoto lens but I don't travel, photograph mtns or oceans, or take pics of the moon so I didn't waste $$$ on it. Space is a premium in my cottage home so extra accessories have no room here. Thx again for the advice!
