Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I had never heard about partridge silkies until about a week ago. I thought "I'll never see one of those" and two days later at an animal swap I found five two-week-old silkie chicks two of which were partridge! One looks buff with a black saddle and the other is an exact copy of the adult birds I see on this thread. This chick has a vaulted skull and is very tame. I spotted their color myself--the woman didn't try to push them off on me or anything and their appearance is just too perfect not to be partridge. At any rate I was so excited to find a pair of these for two bucks each that I wanted to post it here!

I carry my leaf rake with me when Pip and BB are out of the run. It also comes in handy for breaking up any fights. They get so focused on each other through the tines of the rake, that I can just back them up to the run and seperate them! It's like they are attached to it!

LOL @ the rake! My 2 naughty blue Marans roos HATE the broom. I have one with Long yellow bristles on it and for some reason they can't stand it. Then if I wanna really freak them out I get the broom with the light blue bristles and they go completely nuts..you know that alert noise they make when danger is near? They start that up if they even see the dreaded broom . I have never had to use it on them, all I ever have to do is carry it and they stay far far away LOL! It works good to break up fights too. I just sweep it along thier run fence if some of the roos in the bachelor coops start getting rowdy and they all run in different directions lol.
I do have a really cool blue copper roo named Whistle who I can sic on the two naughty ones if I have to. He chases them into the coop and kicks thier butts from one end to the other lol. Then he comes out looking all self satisfied

2 of my partridge females have good penciling the other two, not as good. One, I am sure is probably not properly colored for a partridge (too light). I will get some pics of them.

Just so you know... I used to raise RIR and PR and I have a Silkie roo right now that is as dangerous as any roo I have seen. Nothing stops him from coming at people. If there is a hen in with him and a person walks into the pen and fights him off he will actually go after the hen and beat the tar out of her. He wasn't this mean until just the last few months so he is on his way out. I have him in with another roo that can beat the tar out of him, so he keeps him in line. I will never use him for breeding again. He's basically done and gone.

Oh, I forgot to tell you..Duh. Even the boys will have SOME pencilling on their wings. Mostly just towards the tips. As you can see from that 1 little pullet she's got that fine pencilling all the way down her wings. You are better off to look at the color of the chest and neck. The boys brighten up real quick, while the pullets stay muted with a darker crest. The standard calls for a "lemon yellow on the girls necks.
I can't find my baby pictures anymore. The ones I have I was going to delete because they were all double exposed and they were all of boys. I have some young babies now about the same age as yours and I wouldn't venture a guess. It's a crap shoot.
