Do you show your birds? And what size are your Favorelles? I've been thinking about getting some..I'm just not sure if I could mix them in with my Silkies when it's not breeding season, although I've heard they're pretty sweet natured birds.

I do show and would be at the NJ Sussex show this month if I wasn't moving.

I was actually going to take my Fav boys to this show in addition to the silkies because they just turned 6 months old. I have the Bantam Fav's and they are very sweet both roos and girls. I do have a mixed flock including standard size chickens and all do well. My Fav boys seem to go after the fav girls or the big standard girls. They really seem to leave the silkie girls alone. Which is good because even though they are Bantam they do have some weight to them, much more solid than a silkie and I am thinking they would be a bit too much for a silkie girl but all is well. I do love they Favs too. They are very sweet and fun to have around and I think they are gorgeous!

i did this year to get me some homosigise breeders for next year

So if they are homozygous, then a Showgirl to a Silkie should produce what? All showgirls regardless of the silkies genes involved? Homozygous should always produce the same, kind of the like the paint horses. If the paint stallion is homozygous all of his offspring will be paint.

a homozygous showgirl well produce showgirls every timr when breed to a silkie not just 1\\2 the time like a hetrozygous

A homozygous showgirl is a showgirl without a bowtie. They will always produce showgirls when paired with other showgirls (bowtied or non bowtied) and silkies.
Here are the results you will get. Please note my abbreviations may not be correct but the results are. Use these in the parsons square to get the following:

Non Bowtie SG x Non Bowtie SG = 100% Non Bowtie Showgirls (NN X NN = 100% NN All Non Bowtie Showgirls)

Non Bowtie SG x Bowtie SG = 50% Non Bowtie SG and 50% Bowtie SG (NN x Nn=50% NN and 50% Nn, 100% Showgirls)

Non Bowtie SG x Silkie = 100% Bowtie SG (NN x nn =100% Nn)

Bowtie SG x Bowtie SG = 25% Non Bowtie SG, 25% Silkie, 50% Bowtie SG (Nn x Nn= 25%NN, 25% nn (Silkie), 50% Nn)

Bowtie SG x Silkie = 50% Bowtie SG, 50% Silkie (Nn x nn = 50%Nn, 50%nn(silkie))

I think this is all of the combinations. Any errors are just typo's because if you do the parsons square it is easy to figure out.
So to make it easier to understand, think of the totally necked neck non bowtied Showgirl to be homozygous and the Bowtied Showgirl to be heterozygous.

I hope it is ok if I post this here. I have 25 Partridge and blue Partridge silkies for sale. I need to get my numbers down. Plus, I am trying to raise money for my son to get three sheep that he really wants. So, some of the other animals need to find good homes. You can go to my facebook page with a list of what is for sale and prices there too. I have them priced to sale. I have shown several of my birds and they have done well. This spring on of our pullets got BV and RB at an open show.

Oh, I would so like to see you and chat up a storm. We really don't talk much at all. I miss you. And I would certainly love to see pics of the new boy. Where did he come from? I have sold off all that I can afford to sell. I have 1 more backstage that just may end up being my best breeder... He's really nice.. Have to wait and see on him. Talk to you soon.
