Do you have blue parti girls? I think you use just parti girls and some of them should be blue parti.

I don't have any blue parti's. That is the project that I want to work on with him. I have several VERY nice parti girls that I would like to breed to him. 2 have been Res.Ch.FL at the last 2 shows we have attended. I thought they might make very nice girlfriends for this guy. Then of course I would also breed them to a couple of very nice parti boys.

Pennie I took some quick pic's of my dark young cockrel today. What do you think of him?

On a different note. I let the silkies out in the barnyard and my baby turkey poult came over to eat with them. She was soo sweet with them but, the silkies couldn't help but, look at the turkey says: "the the heck is that big giant thing?" "Why is it eating with us?" It was kinda funny to hear them squacking and bauking to eachother!

On a different note. I let the silkies out in the barnyard and my baby turkey poult came over to eat with them. She was soo sweet with them but, the silkies couldn't help but, look at the turkey says: "the the heck is that big giant thing?" "Why is it eating with us?" It was kinda funny to hear them squacking and bauking to eachother!

This is picture heavy.

This is my Partridge Silkie that is 14-16 weeks old. I'm assuming it is a cockerel. It has 5 toes.

Then I have one that was marked Partridge Silkie on the egg but this is what I got. It is 10-12 weeks old. Both eggs were from the same breeder. It only has 4 toes. If this is a pullet it will either be sold as a pet or kept as a broody.

This is both of them together. Sorry about the picture quality. They were taken with my phone.

The main problem is now I want more. I have Champagne taste on a tap water budget though. Sigh. As a teacher/former dairy farmer (I just moved my cows to a neighbors farm but still have my young stock and dry cows) cash is non existent at my place. I mainly trade/swap eggs and when I can afford it I buy some eggs.

Pennie, where in NE Wi are you. I spent most of my free time as a child in outside of Eagle River at my grandparents house. (On Pickerel Lake) I have many fond memories of that area but haven't been back since they passed in 1992 and 1993.

On a different note I can just imagine the jabbering that went on with baby long legs!!!!

I would have to agree with you. The dark one is most definitely a cockerel - just going by color alone. I can't tell with the second one, but doesn't look partridge to me. Maybe a mix of colors. I can't tell either if it's a little girl or a boy... 4 toes, I would get rid of it at a pet. Not all Silkies go broody, so even if it is a little girl, she may not set for you. If you do get rid of it as a pet, make sure the people are aware of why it is pet quality.
