Thank you for the info

- I am not planning to show her anyway, her toes aren't super great, but I'm hoping to get some better-toed babies by crossing her with my good-toed boys. I have e-mailed the breeder about the color - and will share what I hear if it's something interesting.

We will be waiting to hear from you. She's a very nice bird.

I heard back from the breeder. It turns out that Petunia is either from her older porcelain pair, or the result of porcelain roo over blue or blue partridge hen. So the question is - what do I breed her to??

I have a lavender roo but I've retired him from breeding as he has wry neck. I have one of his offspring, a blue/lav cross cockerel (I know, I know, I'm not supposed to cross lav and blue) who has very nice type so far. I have some buff babies growing out - surely some of them are boys. Help!!

I have a boy who looks similar - he came from an egg labeled b/b/s - I saved him for my partridge pen because I read that "rednecks" can help to improve the black or dark chests on the males. As his streamers are growing in, most of them have red coloring - although I haven't gotten a good pic of it. What do you all think? Should I use him in the partridge pen? Sorry for the blurry pic - he was on the move!!

I don't know but I have two cockerels that I hatched in the spring from eggs marked partridge and they look like yours one has real red hackels and the other is more of the blond. The redder one hatched with the chipmunk stripes and the blond hatched a solid grey they were both large chicks.
This is them butt to butt one with clear marks one without day old

I'll have to trot over to the ASBC site and see if they've posted any pics.

Pennie, The Sedalia show was a (hope I get this right), Special and a District show. Still learning about shows here, wish I could've gone to this one, if for nothing else but to watch and learn and meet some Silkie folks. This is the closest APA show I have found near me, and it's a 3 hour drive one way. Would've been nothing in my younger years, but since my truck and I are getting on, it's a bit on the iffy/chancey side for me!

Muzzie ~ Oh, I think my now dark blue boy is going to feather out like your boy in the last pic. Mine was hatched with very clear chipmunk stripes, then turned solid, dark blue. Just recently I have noticed that he is getting red coloring on his wings and shoulders, so this may be the coloring he ends up. He is just 4 months old, so I've got awhile till he completely feathers out. Thanks for posting those pics!
