Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

You are so right! He looked much redder to me yesterday than he did three days ago. He is also crowing, so he must be proud of himself!

It's funny, most of my Marans cockerels start crowing at exactly 8 weeks. One started at 7 weeks, and with my last hatch, one started at 4 weeks! I have one White Silkie that started crowing, such as it was, at 8 weeks. As of this morning, there are now three Silkie cockerels crowing out there. Keeping up with the "Big" boys.

Okay everyone... I know that I have not been on here as much as I used to be but always checked in if there was a message. I started this thread for a place to come where there would be no pettiness or frustration. I would like to see it continue that way. I always wanted someone to get an answer here if a question was asked. Just to have someone respond even if they didn't know the correct answer, but a response to know that there are people listening...
I will try to check in as much as possible for the next few weeks or so, but yesterday my husband literally dropped dead of a massive heart attack. He was only 55. So if you feel like being petty, please don't. Everyone please be nice, you never know when someone won't be there any longer. And give everyone you know an extra kiss and tell them that you love them.

Looks like Sundy really cleaned house at Sedalia! Bren did very well too. 56 Silkies there, but no Partridge, Buffs, or Grays?? Is Partridge just not that popular a color, or is it just a harder color to get just right for showing?? I happen to love the Partridge color first, then the BBS, then Buffs. And I may see some Grays in my future too!

Partridge and Grey while standard colors - are not seen often in shows. You would be surprised by how many people have never even seen a partridge silkie or a grey silkie! They both are difficult colors to get to standard, but not impossible, and no more difficult than some other patterned colors in other breeds. BUT solid colors such as white, black, and blue have always been most popular. Now of course AOVs are now extremely popular with all the new colors people are working on.

Oh, Pennie, I am so sorry to hear about your husband!! You must be devastated!! I don't know you well but I wish I could give you a hug and be there to comfort you. I am praying for you and I hope you will come here to us whenever you need support - I am not on BYC all the time but I will be watching this thread.
