Partridge Silkies - Nothing else

I'm wanting to breed my previously posted parti girl and I only have two options when the time comes.
This cockerel is likely at least her half-brother (same egg batch). He is just now starting to look decent though still very gangley.
He has a lot of black coming in crest, back, saddle and tail, more noticeable everyday. None in the chest though.

He has great feet.
Anyway he has this funky comb! How serious of a problem is that?
My other option will be a very nice light blue boy.

I would be concerned about that comb though. I feel it has too many points and you can see too much definition. If you are only breeding for pets I'd say go for it and hope that both male and female contribute some good qualities. But, if you are working towards improving the breed, I would not breed him. He has some quailities although nice, his other features may out way. For instance, comb shape, his back is too long, and his color is a bit too reddish/orange like. Your female is so nice and there are sooo many nice cockrels out there I'd love to see her with a better matched partner

Please don't take this as negative its only constructive input from my breeding experience only. I like to tell folks the best honest advice I can so that they may take it and hopefully use it towards their goal.

I guess depending on what you are trying to achieve there may be alot more to consider

Also as you said he doesn't have any dark color to his chest, which you really want with a male. You can either find you a partridge boy, (Talk to Bat Cave Silkies about getting a boy when she starts selling again in spring time - she has some awesome boys...Kelar (Catdance- Karen Larson), or Jennifer from Southside Silkie Shack... All have really nice partridge boys) OR see if you can find a red/gold leaking black rooster. These "red necked blacks" many use them, the produce dark girls and boys, but you should get good partridge patterned birds that you can use those offspring to breed together or a boy offspring to breed back to mom.

your right, as he gets older that comb will only get more narly and the horns and bumps more noticeable.

****Sorry I should of specified I meant filling in his back bc sometimes as they fill in with more hackle feather, topknot, streamers, and tail the back seems less noticible. I agree that poor boys comb will only get more pointy. You can see the polish bloodlines in him
