Past, Present, and Future Gardens

I'm pouring through seed catalogs now to plan my 2020 veggies.
Past success - asparagus, sweet potato and tomatoes - especially San Marzano. We're big into canning pasta sauces.
Failures - anything porcupines can get their teeth into.

As my garden is all raised beds, I think I've been depleting the nutrients as I don't use much fertilizer. But this year - chicken waste= fertilizer.

Looking forward to following asking with the thread!

I'm going to "try" to grow fruit trees and vegetables this year.

Last year Japanese Beatles killed pretty much everything and I tried everything that people told me to do... Nothing worked and it was frustrating.

I just ordered Nanny berries and wild grapes, which come in April 4th.

I plan on growing tomatoes, jalapenos, cilantro, parsley, oregano, and green onions.

I have two 4x4 above garden beds

I actually took out the wood shavings from my coop and I put it on the garden beds and I've been turning it. I will be putting dirt on top of it and hoping that it will give the plants enough nutrients.

Our property has nothing but sun so I don't know how to fix that issue, but I'm sure I can figure something out.

I am extremely excited about this coming spring. Last year I planted about 15 different types of peonies, 8 types of irises, 6 types of day lilies, 4 different magnolia trees, hazelnut trees, chestnut trees, a giant forsythia, holly, winterberry, mountain ash tree, catalpa tree, bittersweet, hydrangea, hardy mums, and that's what I can remember (I think there is more)! I spent at least $1000 last year on new trees and flowers. It's going to be amazing to watch them all bloom for the first time. I'm especially excited about the irises and peonies, as they are my favorite.

In my vegetable garden each year I plant tomatoes, cucumbers and squash. I plan on doing the same this year.

I had such bad luck with my veggie garden.

Do squash like full sun?

I may do cucumbers too if there's a way to do them in pots and put them on my porch. I'd love some pickles
