My 7 month old EE pullet has poo on her feathers near her vent. One poop will be normal looking, then the next is a brown puddle. She is eating, very active, and still producing eggs, but the eggs have brown stuff on them that look like dirt (dry and dusty). How do I know what is normal fluctuations in intestinal health, and when I have a problem? I looked in a chicken health book and there were a million diseases that cause loose stools.

The books also say to look at comb color, but I think her comb has always been pinker and lighter than my other breeds. She is the only EE I have, so I can't compare color.

Any advice?

Well, that was totally awesome and incredibly helpful. I will do a little more analysis, but I'm thinking her poo is in the normal range. Thanks so much!
