Pasty Butt Chick x2 - Losing Feathers

Last year, all of my chicks got PB. This year I kept a humidifier going in the room with them and only about half of them did. I don't use ACV, just plain water, except I did give them probiotics in their water on about Day 5. I follow Eggcessive's advice on the temps. For those with PB, I washed their bottoms with warm soapy water (a few drops of Dawn), rinsed and dried with a soft paper towel. Those that were really poopy and therefore quite wet got blow-dried. A few needed repeat treatments, but fewer each day for a few days. All were clear by about 10 days, I think. I wear Nitrile gloves for the procedure.

Thank you for the additional advice. Seems to be the typical treatment - clean/wash gently with warm water, dry and repeat. I have been doing that for 2 days now, the two chicks seem to be improving. I'm a little worried they aren't drinking as much as I think they should, but they don't appear to be distressed, but I will keep an eye on them. I'm unable to put a humidifier near their brooder in my garage, but it's a good idea. Fingers crossed that they both make it!

Update 11 March 2020: So I’m posting an update here with a few more photos for Chick #1 (Jersey Giant chick) and Chick #2 (ISA Brown chick).

I am more concerned with Chick #1. I have been gently cleaning her vent area after work each day with warm water (no soap) and applying melted coconut oil. Her vent area is crusty and yellow-ish. See attached photos (she is the black chick). She keeps grooming and pecking at it, but is pooping/eating/drinking and is acting normal. Any thoughts as to what is causing this crust? Last night I tried to veryyy gently scrap some of it off after soaking/washing the area for 10 minutes but the crust wouldn’t come off. I’m worried she’s plucking her own butt fluff feathers to try and clean it. No bullying that I can see. Any ideas to what it is or how I can remove it (or should I)?

Chick #2 is doing fine. Poop keeps getting stuck on her butt fluff feathers directly below her vent but she looks great after cleaning (see photos, she is the light yellow chick). I’m not concerned with her as the poop easily comes off with warm water and there is no vent crust.

Any help is appreciated for Chick #1! I’m still worried about her. I’ve also attached a few photos of their brooder. I turned on heat lamp #2 for the colder night time temps. They are currently all sleeping scattered slightly into the heat lamp light.

How are your chicks now? I’ve got one that has some redness/feather loss similar to what I see in your photos from what I’m assuming is pasty butt too.
