If you're using additives to their water be sure to offer plain water too. It's possible to OD on electrolytes, etc. (Imagine having nothing to drink but a Gatorade flavor you don't like).
IMO, the bigger the brooder the better. Mine is almost ridiculous -- 4x8 (with half of it blocked off for the first week), and they use all of it as soon as I give them access.![]()
I never have more than a handful of chicks. My largest batch to date is on its way this morning, and there are only 6. They'd get lost in a 4x8 brooder! But I have brooder envy now! Mine's only 2x4!
