Pasty butt question

Good morning y’all!

So, we currently have six baby chicks and they seem to be doing quite well. Only one really obvious pasty butt chick which I took care of. Now, I’ve been checking chick fannies each morning and a couple have some poop stuck around their vents, but it’s not much at all. Couple thin, <1cm strands, or a bit of brown smudge right on/in the vent. What is normal and what is problematic? Big chunks obviously a problem, but just a dirty vent? How clean is normal?

Thanks! I can try to get a picture in an hour or so once household things settle. All chicks perky, and eating and drinking well.

If it isn't blocking the vent, it's not a problem. I saw from your handle that you're a mom. I would put one of the kids in charge of daily butt cleanings.

It wouldn't cause any infection staying on their skin? How would it come off eventually?
