Pasty Butt?

I one with pasty butt .... just used warm water and paper towels. I laughed til I cried when I put her back in the brooder and all the other chicks had to come over and check out her butt.

How old do the chicks have to be when they can stop being checked for PB?

In a week or so, there should be no more pasty butt. But, keep checking and cleaning as necessary. Also monitor the brooder temp!

At what age should there be no more pasty but? My chicks are 2 1/2 weeks old. I'm wondering if I need to keep on checking them.

My chicks are 2 weeks old and I just had to clean a bunch of pasty butts last Friday. It was sad though because i had one turken that only had a very minor amount of dry poo and there were some chicks that pecked the heck out of it butt and cause its insides to come out. It was so bad and the chick seemed to be in such pain that I had to end its misery. It was a gruesome sight. I was wondering myself when the pasty butts will ever be done with.
