PC's Evil Silkie Eggs Are In My Bator! ** UPDATE pg 7 **

So when my silkies start developing the combs, I need to separate out the single-combs ones (if any) and rehome/sell them right off, or will I already be under their spells before I realize there danger? lol

Mine are 2 weeks old and run like mad when I open the *bedroom* door where the brooder is kept (OK, so it's actually my office, but I haven't been able to use it because the brooder has taken over the floor and is threatening to spread under the desk and into the corners if I'm not careful. Their powers are legion, even at this age. lol) They're way cute, and I can't wait to see if I have any splashes, or if it's all my imagination--I have an abundance of blue, black and white anyway. I'm sure they'll do their best to spread their evil agendas all over my fair city (large village) as I hatch and sell them in the spring.

They are still only eggs in the brooder and already I am twisted around their undeveloped little claw fingers....

I am now building a SECOND coop!

THE SILKIES DID IT! THE SILKIES DID IT!

Blame it on the evil silkies, we'll all go along with that!

Argh!!!!!

Did you candle them at day 18?

I had to help a few because the shells and membranes are so thick.

I don't remember if our last batch were late or not.

On day 22 pick an egg and gently pop open the air sac to see if there is any activity.

I hate shipping eggs. Out of 22 eggs, 15 hatched, 1 died, and most of the eggs
were in the refridgerator for 1 day to 2 weeks.

Since I last typed here, I had 3 pips, two of which died fully formed. I have no idea why. Maybe just weak? They barely pipped thru the membrane and within the hour, died. The first one to pip is still trying to work thru.

Get the humidity up super high. Pop open the tops so they don't
suffocate. Then, as long as they can breath, give them 24 hours before
helping them out of the eggs.

I suspect most of the eggs were from my Partridge silkie. She is
young and the chicks just can't get through the thick shells.

I'm so sorry you are having a difficult hatch.
