It's supposed to be a Roo but there's no saddle feathers and the ones on the neck are rounded so I'm not so sure...

I understand the need for abbreviations from time to time, but for all the hardcore BYCers out there, when I first started looking at posts, by the time I unraveled the abbreviations, I had lost interest and could care less what breed what being talked about. I attempt to spell out things, as opposed to abbreviate because sometimes I feel over abbreviating makes a certain society or circle of people seem closed off or clickish if you will. I dont attempt to correct my spelling on these posts because I feel they are informal and it isnt necessary.
I agree that the over use of media based communication is creating a generation of painfully socially awkward youth.

As a member of the IT staff for a big state university Elec. Engineering and Comp. Sci. for years, I learned a lot of code names geeks used for various things that were inside jokes or hidden language to disparage the end users openly when we were frustrated with some of the folks we had to support. My favorites were the "Identification Tee Ten" error and the "Pebcack" error.

There were really the 'I.D.10T' error (look closely: idiot) and the 'P.E.B.K.A.C.' error (Problem Exists Between Keyboard And Chair).

Hardest attempt EVER I had to make to not laugh in someone's face was the day the Electrical Design Asst. Director took credit for fixing a pc after I did it and told him it was an ID10T error, expecting him to sympathize. Instead he went to the rest of the staff and told them all what error code the machine was having and how he 'fixed' it, showing himself out as a liar.

We've turned off texting occasionally on our kids' phone specifically for this reason. Ours will be the only ones who know how to speak to anyone on the phone and will be 'highly skilled' compared to their peers, as they will know how to raise their faces to speak to someone!!

Laughing So Hard I P'd My Pants.
I had heard of this the first time not long after ROFLMAOPIMP and ROFLPIMP.... back in chat room days

My daughter sends a LOT of text messages. She has always hated improper grammar. She has been known to ignore messages with text shorthand. She even fusses at me if I reply to her with "K"

I spent about ten years in the military so the acronyms for the different breeds and the different text short cuts weren't hard to catch on to. I know when I would start talking to my friends that were not in the Army about what I did, they would just look at me with blank stares on their faces from all of the "jargon". You just have to have a similar frame of reference. ChooksChick I have heard of the ID10T forms before as well. Sent peolple out looking for "flight line" and "prop wash". Sometimes you can have fun with it as well.
