Pea Eggs Scheduled to Hatch?

How much did you pay for him...after cost and shipping? I have never seen a purple pied in FL, but I think those that have them live in N. FL and I am a good 5 hrs. from there depending on where it is. There is a local lady trying to sell a cameo pied peachick for $75! I am almost ready to email her and ask her if she's out of her mind. To be honest, there are not a lot of colored peafowl in FL, they are mostly Indian Blue, that's why I'm so happy to get my hands on these silver pied chicks I hatched.
I don't believe I'll go for anymore shipped eggs but can't say for sure: I don't know how honest the gentleman I got the eggs from was, but I always hope people treat each other the way they want to be treated. I don't know if someone local would be more honest. I was inexperienced when I bought them. I was unexperienced hatching them. I guess the main question is wanting a special color and the availability. Then can you even have that choice from most places; Are they honest after the hatch do you have the bird you thought you were getting? If I have my own eggs will I have success or failure. I've chose to look for the colors I want and drive to pick up the grown birds, but it isn't 100 miles it's 250 - 500 + miles. Can everyone do that though? People work or if you have livestock and birds is their someone to stay at home to take care of them. It's hard to understand that these big eggs and peachicks could be so fragile. My daughter order some fancy chicken eggs and not one of them hatched either and we hatch our own chickens with excellent hatch rates, all the time. I guess being on here for a while tells me: As a buyer I think they are quite expensive. I guess though if I had the shoe on the other foot I'd think that wasn't enough for a special color peachick when they are so hard to hatch and only so few eggs a year. People make choices of what they wish for. Some people have outright told me they think buying these birds is the most hair brain idea I've ever had. It isn't just the birds it's the pen the care, etc. Fellow who gave me a hard time about the peas chooses to have a muscle car, goes everywhere with it, it dies too. I chose to buy peacocks, and I want certain colors all in all I think I'm wasting less money than he is. I'm diffinately not rich, but I feel a person works hard life is short and sometimes you just need a reward. You're happy with your silver pied chicks. Someone possibly will be happy to pay $75 for the Cameo Pied chick although it wouldn't be me.

That's why if I am not sure about eggs whether it be pea, turkey, goose, guinea, etc. I DO NOT sell. I always give them away for free. It's not worth it. I rather give away the eggs for free rather than have an unhappy customer/person. But I know that everyone is not able to give away all of their eggs.

I'm not feeling confident about my pea eggs in the incubator. Too many temperature problems. 1 day is 100 and another day is 98. It seems like I am adjusting temps every other day.

How did your hatch come out or are you due the 7th? Been crossing fingers.

Took the babies out to play yesterday.
In the group of three, white Amtrak was hatched 6-15 from an egg Julie gave me. All of the rest are from my birds. The other two were hatched on 6-23.
In the group of four, they were hatched July 4th.
I still have 8 eggs due next week.
The final two eggs laid this year are due July 27th.
All in all a good first breeding season i think. My 4 birds just turned 2 years old a couple of weeks ago.
Peahens are White Spot & Vishnu, both IB split white.
Peacocks are Romeo - silver pied split peach, and D'artagnan - buford bronze split silver pied. Both were from Deerman.

Yes, VERY CUTE little peas!!! Did they do that happy dance when you brought them outside I just love watching them bop around at a day old...are you going to hand-raise these?

very excited, had 1 little Indian blue hatch yesterday and this morning had my first 2 eBay babies hatch out, 100% hatch the babies are a cross 13/16 emerald spaulding( and 100% imperator(hens). I'm not really sure what that makes the little guys but they are amazing. Still have 14 eggs to go, starting out to be a fun month.
