Pea Eggs Scheduled to Hatch?

I told you I will take Thang (beast) and here he can turn into the handsome prince

Nothing about Thang is close to handsome. The entire DNA code would need a re-write to make Thang handsome,,just ain't possible with the resources we have at present in this decade. Thang could be referred to around here as a "Yellowhammer",,,because I don't believe much forking takes place in his genetics.

I hope you guys will forgive me butting in, but I've read through this entire thread and thought I have something to contribute. In the meat birds section, there's a thread dedicated to using fermented feed for meaties and it's shown some interesting results. One thing about fermented feed that's applicable here is that it makes protein easier to digest/absorb. This seems to be worth looking into, particularly since from what I've read here, breeding peas need more protein than they may be getting. This would be very interesting to see if it helps out charcoals with their nutritional deficiencies. One last thing, some of the people in that thread have been feeding their layers f.f., and have been seeing much healthier eggs with vibrant yolks, which leads me to suspect chick health would also be improved.

Hope I didn't step on any toes, and hopefully gave some food for thought.

It might be good for them if they ate like chickens but peas pick at there food and i have never known them to gobble anything down like a chicken so i would be afraid the fermitaion could easly become out right spoiled especelly in warm weather which would leave us with sick peas, i feed my birds scrambled eggs, that is a perfect food and i have plenty here.

Thankd for info i had read a bit about it a while back when the tread was started.

From what I read, f.f. does better in warm weather, it accelerates the fermentation. Plus some people leave it out all day/overnight. It's a legitimate worry, if I hadn't seen how the fermentation spreads I'd be leery of that too.

Frosty,,all I can say is if you think the "Thang" is beautiful at this point you may be amazed next spring when he has a full train for the first time.I myself look at 9 other adult Peacocks here that all have much more beauty than Thang. He has a long ladder to climb. His stump of a tail this year was laughable but he was very proud of it. I cannot wait until I move him to the winter pen. I'll have my thick leather welding gloves on and the camera to get some close ups of his unique appearance and head markings. If you look at this thread
https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/628646/emerald-pied-spalding-id-please it actually is Thang before breeding season.
