Peaches and pineapple??

I have fed my 14 week old chickens a few peaches and pineapple rinds, they loved both of them but then I looked at my list of "do not feeds" and it says that citrus should not be fed to them but it doesnt say why.

Should I stop feeding them this food? and why is citrus bad for them??

Peaches and pineapple are ok neither are citrus which is a different family of fruits.

mine LOVED peaches all summer!

the pineapple tho - hum... not sure about that one. if they are layers (not yet, right??) i wonder if the eggs would taste funny???

What "family" of citrus is a no no??

Oranges, grapefruit, lemons, limes, and clementines are all citrus.

Peaches, nectarines, and any other fruit with a pit aren't citrus at all... They're a completely separate type of fruit.

I gave mine two older peaches and they went crazy at them like it was the last food they were ever going to get.
