Peachick...1 from 1st batch (pic)-8 more go to hatcher today!

My incubator is a 34 qt coleman plastic cooler and the webcam is a microsoft 3000 livecam. I use that one for indoor/closeup viewing.

For my outdoor cam, I have a wilife outdoor camera - works much better for wide angle/farther away shots.

The webcam is right inside the incubator. One nice thing about my cooler-bators is that they tend to hold temps and humidity much steadier than the stryrofoam types. I think it's just the larger interior space (taller) coupled with the smaller sq footage footprint.

I still try NOT to open the bator during hatching...

thatone poped its head out like tada im here that was so awsom congrats agean! and thanks for letting us view this first stage in life!

Oh my, this is wonderful. They are so busy! We saw a peep zipping right in front of the camera. Thank you for sharing, what great use of a webcam! My daughter was glued to the computer screen.

Edit: One just fell out of the egg carton :o , now it is up and they are already pecking at eachother

But I've been watching this cam for close to 10 minutes now and someone appears to be pulling eggs apart and moving them all over.

Is it okay to leave the bator open so long?

I've only opened mine to remove fluffy chicks that looked as if they'd jump the shelves.

That one is taking his time huh? and the one on left has zipped all around the middle of egg! this is so cool! thanks again!
Are they all a light green they look white may be the lighting?

I know, right? I've been watching him on and off for 40 minutes now and he's taking his good ol' time.

The eggs are a really pretty light green color.

And, yes...guilty. I was moving the eggs around. There was one pipped over 24 hours really low on the egg I figured I needed to check on... I know, I know DO NOT OPEN THE BATOR....but do as I say, not as I do.

Sadly it had pipped so low it must have smothered and was dead in the shell

On a positive note, I have 8 sleepy chicks in the brooder, and 2 more still drying in the bator.

And, 3 more eggs well on their way to hatching.

Still 6 with no pips at all yet.....
