It's true that they are very wild birds but I will try to do it, with my button quails I don't pass a lot of time with him, but they don't scare of me, when they see me they come, and they are not imrpinted animals. I'll try and tell what happens, the animal kingdom can make us surprise.
I know that are not the same, I said that gived me the idea to do this project with fowl, because are more easy to find and not very expensive. With parrots I'll need to pay a lot of money.
I am young and I need to have mistakes to learn, the project could not be what I expect, but I trust in myself and I need to be positive. What could happen if I listen to some things you told me could happen? It will happen that I never do this project. I know you want to help me and say what happened to you and I am very grateful. This project will be recorded and I'll make some documentaries taht I will upload to youtube. When I had my 3 goslings, always said that I'll tell everything. My goslings a lot of times don't want to follow me and prefer stay eating, but when they don´t see me, they start to tweet a lot and very loud. I will show everything in the videos, the bad things and the good things. Because when I see the documentaries making of, always they show a very nice bird, or a very good pet and they people like you that say the true(I don't say that in the documentaries lie) and you are like the bad people that say negative things and you only pretend to help.

Am i reading this correctly? Are you saying that Kedreeva is only saying negative things and pretending to help? If so, that's not a nice thing to say and sure isn't true from where I'm sitting.

Yes I said that but not from my point of view(and I didn¡t wrote it well to understand good), Keedreva tell me all the mistakes happened to him to help me. I said, the people think that when you tell him the truth it's only for discourage yourself and I thinked the same when I entered to this forum, but in time, I was opening my eyes and I felt that you only want to help me and do the better for me and the birds. But you need to think that not every people wants to listen good what you say about the truth.

Now i'll say something that maybe is stupid but...
What is the problem of having peafowls, pheasants, partridges, quails, ducks and geese at home about one month and then put him in a pen. This birds are going to take walks(You say that are not going to follow me like I want) and when they grow, ducks, geese and peafowls will stay out the pens, the peafowls may be fly to go to the threes, but That is not a big problem I think. I have a friend that haves peafowls from a lot of years, and never changed here place of sleeping from chicks to big, always sleep at the same tree and they have a lot of pine trees and the monastery at 4 metres, that it haves more and more pine and other type of trees. The ducks and geese can fly to the pond or to the river or the ravine, maybe you think that it's imposible, but here in spain the people let free the birds and they go were they want. I read that a person who haves geese, let him go 5 km away to a river and they return to the pen and make everything here.
Quails(califonria and virginia), pheasants, and partridges are wild birds but there are people who have him like a pet and I'll try to imprint him (they are going to hatch in 6 days), They are going to stay at the biggest pen with the peafowls when this will be young.

I have been following this thread and I think much of what is said here is getting confused in the translation to English. While it did sound as though the OP wanted to have the birds as imprinted house pets at first, it now seems they have modified their ambitions to a more realistic scenario and I do not really see any problem with what they want to try. It sounds to me like the birds will be incubated and kept inside the home for the first month or so, then they will move to an outside pen to finish growing, during this time the OP hopes they will be imprinted enough to follow along to various areas that they will get to know and eventually they will become independent and stop following, but will still accept the OP as a familiar member of the flock. While I cannot venture a guess on how cooperative quail and such will be, I think this is pretty much exactly how many of us raise our peafowl if we want them to free range as adults. Maybe I am missing something, but the set-up and preparations made here seem better than many I've seen, for Peafowl anyway. I really do think it's just a communication/language/translation problem and no intention to insult from either side. Just MHO.

First I will say don't worry, you haven't hurt me. I wasn't sure exactly what you were saying in your earlier post, but I didn't think you were trying to be mean, and I know you don't think I am trying to be mean either. Stuff gets lost in translation, I know, and I haven't said so before but I appreciate you communicating with us as much as you already have, and trying to get this all sorted out.

It sounds, from your last post, that your new plan is to let your peafowl free range. Judging by the pictures you have sent, it looks like they will have a good area to do that in, and I do hope that though they may not follow you, they will stick around and enjoy the space you are giving them. I don't think anyone has a problem with the idea of you free-ranging the birds; most of us appear to be concerned that you have the impression the birds (the peafowl, anyway) will follow you around once you do this, and we have and are sharing experiences that says otherwise. You say that you need to make mistakes to learn, but part of human learning is being able to learn from the mistakes others have made, instead of having to make every mistake yourself. This is especially important where the well-being of another creature is at stake. I think as long as you are aware that the possibility of the birds not being super-tame is a valid possibility, you should be just fine.

Really quick related note- I haven't raised many water fowl, but I know that where I used to board my peas while I was moving and pen building, the lady had ducks, and when she let them out in the morning, they would walk to a pond that was a good distance away, play around, and come back to her yard in the evening, and I think that yours can probably be trained to do the same. I don't see any problem with that idea. Ducks and geese are wayyyy more domestically inclined than peas.

I've even seen an OWL go in through a pigeon aviary opening and get trapped inside. @MinxFox lost her beautiful pied pea to a raccoon that didn't even have to get into pen- her bird had enough space to put his head outside of the pen and was killed. I know that you will do your best to protect the birds under your care, and I just wanted to be assured that you won't leave their protection up to "they can protect themselves." You sent pictures of the doors you have on the pens, and they'll probably be fine as long as there aren't any big gaps.

One last note- I would be very careful keeping the pheasants and the peafowl together; a friend of mine breeds pheasants and she says she can't keep them with the couple of peas she has because the pheasants (ringneck pheasants mostly) get very aggressive. I know you said that if you saw aggression you would separate them, but I think that waiting for someone to get hurt before you act is not proactive. If, for instance, something happens overnight, when you are asleep and cannot stop it, it could escalate into serious injury, possibly death. I know you don't want that.

Anyway, I like your plan to free range the birds when they are adults. That seems like a good plan, and (again) I'm sure that they will be happy that way.

Kedreeva, yesterday I was seeing photos of peachicks and I think the peafowls are not going to stay at the pens until they have 2-3 months. peafowls grow very slowly....but if it is hot climate, they are going to stay very young. Any predator can enter, well, today I see some ants eating the food of my goslings but I think they will be a sweet apperitive if the peafowls and other birds want.
I know that the pheasants are very aggresive birds, for this I'm thinking to buy this:

I know that is not very aesthetic but this is what they use in the farms here to have a lot of pheasants together.
In the monastery the only predators that whe have are the cats, minks and squirrels, but for the last ones I'm not very concerned.
What I want for the ducks and geese is when I'm going to open the door oftheir pen, go flying to the pond, and I follow them.

I don't think any of us thought it was a stupid project, we just want to make sure you have expectations that are reasonable and can be achieved. That way you are not disappointed and the birds in your care remain healthy and happy. I wish you much luck in this project and would very much enjoy it if you keep us updated on how it goes. Squirrels are not a concern really, cats are dangerous to the fowl when they are young and small, but minks can be very dangerous, even to the adult Peafowl, keep vigilant of the minks. Several years ago my husband bought 5 pheasants, 1 male and 4 hens, nobody told us how aggressive the males can be and before we realized what was going on, the male killed all 4 hens. I know people who have pheasants with partridges withour this thing in the peak, and they aren't in a very big place. If you have some luck, you can have nice pheasants and not aggresive ones.
Sometimes I see feathers of turtledoves spreaded and the only who can do it is the mink because the cats have her food, they have their instinct, but they are not goin't to die if they don't hunt a bird... A lot of people haves animals outdoors and never I listened about a mink killing any bird, the foxes are the animals who can listen about but in the monastery there aren't.
