The minimum effective dose is 30mg/kg by mouth once a day for 5 days. When dosing chick you will have to know their weight to use the 250mg pill safely. Let me know how much they way and I'll tell you how to give it.

If they aren't sick, they don't need treatment.

Right now your best bet is to weight them religiously (the same time every day) and act fast if something goes wrong. Look up the symptoms of cocci.. and be prepared to treat if that's what it is. Are you sure the grass you allowed the first ones on hadn't been treated with anything? What are you bedding them in? If you feel the need to add something to their water, a small amount of apple cider vinegar (1 teaspoon/quart of water) or a water soluble vitamin mix once a week won't hurt them and a lot of people have good luck using, never both at the same time. If you can't figure out what's going on and continue to have a problem, go back to the beginning and pretend you are a total newbie. Find a source you trust and follow their guidelines exactly. Use bleach or a comparable disinfectant on the brooder before reusing. If you are feeding chick starter, try gamebird starter or turkey starter, make sure its medicated. Don't allow them to eat anything other than starter until you are giving them grit. Ebay is usually a good source for safeguard, I paid $17 for it the last time I got it. free shipping. I'm not saying its impossible, but I have a hard time believing its worms. If you have just been using wazine on your adults, get a fecal sample checked, worm with the appropriate amount of safeguard, ivermectin, or both and then have another fecal done. Good luck, hopefully it was a one time deal.

Question for anyone out there: Can a chick be born with internal parasites?

Thanks all for all your help...I'll keep you posted.Right now the rest look good and I hope they stay that way..Hope you all had a great 4th of July..
