Peacock Feathers

Is it unusual for the cocks to not drop all of their tail feathers during July and August and then for them to start growing and be as they were right before they were to be breeding? I hope you can understand that question. Last year my peas when they molted they literaly dropped all of their flight feathers and all, this year they didnt. Maybe that sounds a little better.

I am new so I can't answer your question but it isn't dumb cause I have one of my peacocks that retained tail feathers that look stripped and I have been wondering the same thing. The other 3 completely lost all their long train and a lot earlier. Hope to see an answer from the more experienced here. I don't like to stress the peas but don't know if I should leave the ugly things or help him rid himself of them.

I occasionally have a bird that will not drop all of his feathers. I leave him alone until the new feathers start growing and then I pull the old ones. They come right out. I am always afraid that if I leave them it will cause problems in the follicles.
