Peacock video

Yeah I hate creepy crawlys on any birdsI knew the 5% sevin dust works great cause I used it in my duck pen before will no ill effects.I did it for fire ants though. I think If I saw that I would have to hold him and dust him and the other birds myself with sevin dust right then and there. Also the whole area as well. I thought ivermectin was a wormer. Not a external parasite cleaner mites fleas and ticks. Also AugeredIn how much of this pour on ivermectin do you use and how often?
ivomec, pour on is a wormer , but will kill mites and lice . kills anything that feed on the birds.

Thanks deerman.Didnt want to hijack this thread but What exactly would you reccomend I should use for worming my birds ? Your opinions on peafowl mean alot to me. I dont know weather to give the injectable or the pour on .I dont know much to give and how often either. I have only dosed birds when they have been sick but I heard you should worm peafowl 1 or two times a year regardless. If you could tell me exactly which one to use and how much and where to put it on the bird I would greatly appreciate it.

Cause Im gonna do exactly what you tell me to use. I want to take care of my Java's the right way. Thanks in advance Shawn

I worm with ivomec pour on 1cc per adult . on the back or under the wing. then safe guard for goats 3 cc per gal of water for 3 days repeat safe guard in 14 days.

I worm 3 times a year with safe guard , ivomec just before breeding season.

reason they need wormed they get worms ,from bugs and earthworms they eat that are host.

adult can live with worms , but will not be in top shape and past it to chicks or the ground.

Thanks again for the details deerman. I am going to get both of those this coming weekend . I am going to try to be at the auction in paxton this weekend AugeredIn. Ill be in a purple shirt if you see me. I put down sevin in my Java's pen a week before I put him in . Along with 2 days of eating nothing but wormer pellets for hogs for him.(looked exactly like chicken layer pellets) And right now chicken layer pellets are all Ive mainly feeding him.

Oh my gosh I have seen your videos before! You have no idea how awesome I thought they were! Those videos inspired me to have some tame peafowl! I can't get my young peacock Peep to fly onto my arm but I can tap on the perches and he will fly to the one I tap.

They are our favorite animals (besides our parrot). When you hatch them and then raise them in the house interacting with them everyday they become just like puppys. We call them feathered Monkey-puppies because they act like puppies and they are as mischevious as monkeys. We have a hard time working around here. When the wife is trying to water all her plants (we have a commercial nursery) they will grab the hose and try to pull it out of her hands.

When I was putting a new roof on the garage they were up there "helping" constantly. They steal tools especially the drill because they get excited about the noise it makes.
When we have a big project that requires lots of nails, screws and small parts we have to lock them up.

The four you see in the training video were the strangest babies ever. I got them at the auction and they were only a couple days old. When you have several babies they normally will go to sleep content with each other.
Not these guys. They were super needy from day one. They all had to be held especially when it was time for bed. I would warp them all up in a towel and hold them until they were asleep and then put the whole bundle into their cage.
Still every day until they were about two months old they got played with, cuddle and put to bed. Then they moved outside into a huge pen with all the pheasants. But evry day for several hours they got to come out and play.

Since they had been raised crawling in and under our hair for socialization we WERE the parent and they would do just about anything for us.
Flying was lots of fun from the beginning. We would sit in the yard and they would from from one of us to the other just for kicks.

They loved that dog too. They used to land on him and try to ride..They weren't very good jockeys.

Unfortunately as they got older it wasn't fun to do all the tricks any more but jumping up and getting a worm out of my mouth was still something to do ..occassionally.
