Hello everybody, I'm new to the bird world and of course that means lots to learn
I have some peafowl and I am going to breed them this year--which will be my first attempt--
of course I am undecided which birds to mate up though
I am hoping someone would please tell what I may expect if I do the following match-ups
a male blue pied with a silver pied hen?
a blue male and the silver pied?

thanks alot

Luger, welcome to the small but loving group of Peafowl lovers. Your not official until you get the Zaz welcome tho. Although I'm no genetics expert I do own tons of peas and if your like everyone else here, soon you will be breeding more pens for more colored birds. Your first pair both carries the pied gene but blue is always dominate so you can expect more blue pieds than silver pieds. Whatever color these chicks are showing phenotypically, they will be "split" genotypically to the unseen color. Your second pair should reveal mostly all ib birds that will carry one copy of the pied gene. You will learn recordkeping is essential in peafowl because the adults do not always show what genes they have. Thus genotype and phenotype. It normally takes both parents to have the pied gene for the peachicks to actually show pied in their feathering, but not in all cases.

Peacock Pied = WP ... 2 genes one White and one Pied.
Peahen Silver Pied = WPWeWe ..... 4 genes one White, one Pied and two genes White eyes.

The same results will be obtained if the rooster is a Silver Pied and if the hen's a Pied.

Offsprings :Both sex !
Whites = WW and WWe ... all are Whites but some are split White eyes.Impossible to know which is split White eyes.
Pied = WP .... ordinary Pied.
Pied White eyes = PWe.https://encrypted-tbn1.gstatic.com/...8-0EXuP-mIOwv4fDQlLKWfVc3CpMfyBG3dccJDWUjJzqQ
Dark Pied = PP .... there are Blue peacocks with some white feathers on the top of the wings.http://peacockgirl.tripod.com/Peafowl_Variet/White//whiteprimaries.JPG

No offspring will be Silver Pied !

Correct?

If the Pied is hiding a single copy of WE, you may not see it, but they can then produce Silver Pied, I think. This Pied male when crossed with a Silver Pied hen does produce Silver Pied offspring.
