Hi all!

I am new to back yard chickens but, have been reading the threads for years. I purchased some Peafowl last year and now have 3 cocks a purple, IB and one that looks like it's a BS white maybe (need help telling what that one is). The white is a yearling. Also, I have a 2 or 3 year old pied hen ( Maybe on the pied)- with green on her neck . As I said I am fairly new to the peafowl world in general but, absolutely love my peas! The purple and IB I have had since 6 weeks old and they go out on my property during the day and follow me into their enclosure for bedtime. They are a year in August.
I have purchased some fertile eggs (6) from a breeder in TN and they should arrive tomorrow. They are a mix of colors. Do any of you agree with cleaning the eggs with soap and water or 3% hydrogen Peroxide prior to incubating and letting them set 24 hours. I have been reading tons of info prior to doing this and have mixed signals on it. Also, the humidity has been a variable in my research. Some say 45%- 55% and some say 60% then on to 70% during lockdown. Any advice would be appreciated!

Hatching eggs should not be washed.

Can you give me the name of the breeder here in TN as I am trying to find hatching eggs to put under my brooding peahens. My peacock died last winter.

My India Blue hens started to lay a month before two years of age so your pied may start laying soon. How old are your peacocks? The pictures look to be immature. Supposedly they are fertile at 3 years of age.

Even if the cocks are immature peahens will lay eggs and brood. Mine are brooding turkey eggs right now and just turned two years old.

Both are brooding nests in a roof top garden.

Your birds are beautiful!!! Thank you for your reply! The breeders are L&L Peafowl, TN. My boys all 3 are yearlings. The peahen is 2 or 3 years old. Do you any know what the color is of the white peacock? I am not sure...

You're welcome. I'm pretty new with peafowl and not up to naming colors. Have you tried looking online?

Thank you for the name. I will definitely check it out. It would be nice if it were traveling distance as I don't want to pay high prices for eggs and have them ruined in shipping.

I could not find where they are located in TN; hardly matters as their prices are too high for me. I'll let them be and they can hatch poults.
