Peafowl for 2013

I found egg # 2 this morning. At that rate, I may have to prepare to set on the eggs myself.

Thanks. I am so eager to put them in the incubator but I don't want to just put 2 of them in there. :/ I'll give the girls another week and see what happens. I hope I can get a good number within 7 days. I may have to buy another incubator. :hit I kinda want to try putting the pea eggs under my broody hens but they play musical chairs soooooo much, I'm scared to risk it with them. Each day they jump in whatever nesting box has eggs and sit. :/ Ticks me OFF !!!!!!!!!!

Do you have a large dog crate? Some of mine are so broody that I can relocate them and their eggs anywhere, like a crate, then you don't have to worry about musical nesting boxes.

Not only do I have dog crates, I had built specially made sevearl brooder "APARTMENTS". They were good with the apartments for years but within the last 2 years, they refused to be moved. I would move them into their "apartment" and the next thing I look up, they are peeking out at me fussing to go back to the chicken house They now want to nest in the big palace "chicken house" so that they can see the comings and goings of EVERYBODY. :smack

Here is a pic of one of the brooders that I had built.

I'm new to raising peafowl. I have a three year old Indian blue pied with a lot of java mix pair and a Indian blue mature hen in a large breeding pen together. The blue hen adopted us last spring and laid around 10 eggs and went broody and everything. Was very sad seeing her sit patiently on her nest knowing that they were infertile since there was no peacock! In Feb I purchased the 3 yr old pied pair, along with a yearling they hatched as two year olds. The pied hen has now laid 8 eggs for me but nothing from the blue yet. Is it normal for her not to be laying yet??? The pied lays and egg every 2 to 3 days, I have those in my incubator. Still waiting on miss blue to get in gear and lay. Should I be worried that maybe she isn't going to lay?? Any advice appreciated.

I was reading through some of this thread and keep seeing people talk about incubating peafowl eggs on the side instead of pointed end down. I have a gqf sportsman 1502 and are using the goose/peafowl trays and have them pointed end down using the auto turner that rocks them to 45 degrees both sides. Is this wrong??? How would you have them on the sides using thes trays?? This is what was recommended where I ordered the incubator from. Please let me know if I need to change. Does anyone else use the sportsman for peafowl eggs???

I was able to lay my eggs sideways in the goose trays and they are developing fine so far.
I have a 1502's also

you will not bew able to put as many this way but they are on their sides, i have a dozen in one tray, i could have put more but did not have any more that day to set.
This is my first time to hatch peas so i am learning with these eggs.
I have 20 in the bator right now

SWEET!

I have 8 in my 1502 sportsman now, 4 I candled 2 days ago at 10 days and developing well. The other four just put in Friday. Only have two peahens and only one laying right now. The eggs are printed end down in goose trays. I'm wondering if a lot of people put them on the sides because of different bators not have either enough height or don't rock over enough of an angle?? I know all of the small styrophome bators you put them on the side do to being to short.
