Peafowl for 2013

I am having a difficult time trying to get my Brinsea Octagon 20 Eco to get higher than 40 humidity. I have tried EVERYTHING. I have sponges in the water tray. Sponges AND something else that I rather not type on top of the water trays and I keep them soaked in water until they dry out. But the humidity NEVER increases to more than 45. What else can I do? Anyone have any other suggestions? I"m more so concerned about the pea eggs however I do have turkey and guinea eggs in their with the pea eggs.
You can try going to Petco or Petsmart and getting the reptile humidity thing for reptile cages. I have no clue what they call them but it is most likely a humidity guage LMAO! Put it in your incubator "face" up LOL that will help you see what your humidity is

They are round about 1-2 inches in diameter.

You can quickly open the 'bator and mist the eggs with a fine mist spray bottle a few times a day too...

You mean one of these Yoda?

They work OK... but you get what you pay for. They at least give you a decent ball park reading tho.

I have a humidity gauge in there already. The problem was trying to get the humidity to increase higher than 40. Kathy (casportpony) sent me the link to the directions to my incubator and it explained to close the vent a bit to up the humidity. I tried that and it increased to 45. So I guess I'll have to go with 45.

What do you keep your humidity at?

Uh, yep. And that helped in that I didn't have to add water as much as I was without that "thing" in there. :gig And I have one of those but mine is silver. I forgot how much I paid for it. I may replace it to see if what readings I get from both of them being in there at the same time.

LOL too funny!
I haven't used the maxi pad trick yet, but I have been using a pair of super fuzzy socks sopping wet sitting in shallow dishes in my hatcher, lol.
But hey, whatever works, lol.
