Thanks I hope that Ice will be safe! She is nesting in the same corner she always nests in so I guess they can have favorite nesting spots.

I am finally up to 6 pea eggs. I am collecting them this time instead of leaving them in the pea pen.


Lockdown is Sunday for the other 4 pea eggs. I hope at least one hatches.

I'm a little neurotic about collecting the eggs this year and so far it's paid off and I've only lost two from the hen that lays from the perch. An added bonus to watching them is knowing what hen each egg came from.

Taco is bigger now than this...I am texting Aaron that BYC'ers want to see photos of Taco so maybe he can send me a more current photo. Taco is the peachick that had to be helped out of the egg and I was not there for that but Aaron, never having hatched out a bird, was very nervous but he did a great job. I was glad he was the one hatching it since I get so nervous for hatches.

Okay here is a brand new photo that Aaron just took! This is Taco who is just now growing a crest. Taco is a cute little bird. Unfortunately it is in that stage Peep had where they want to eat your hair...


Oh good Aaron just texted me that he is outside with Taco now. Taco likes eating grass outside.

Today when I went to give Ice some treats, she got off the nest with me there. Most peahens don't like to get off the nest when people are present and if they do get off the nest then see me, they run back to their nest and sit on it. Ice saw me and didn't even care. She just kept on walking and luckily there was still some lettuce on the ground for her to eat and she got a drink of water too. I looked over at her nest and she does have 5 eggs so I am excited to have her nesting. She always does well nesting in that corner.
