Peafowl for 2013

How are you checking your humidity levels , sounds like your reader is malfunctioning .

Ok zaz, I bought a Acurite digital humidity monitor at Walmart for $10.00. Came home and popped that sucker in. After 10 minutes, I read it and it registered 60 and that was without the extra bowl of water. I then put the bowl of water back in and the humidity registered at 73. So we are back in business! ! Yea!!!!! Thanks zaz for pointing the reader malfunction out to me. Much appreciated. My other one never registered higher than 50.

I hope that the low humidity didn't affect the lockdown. Fingers crossed.

they will be fine.

Humidity is steady, so I'm happy about that. Hatch day is tomorrow. If nothing hatches, I will not be disappointed but I'm sure many of you all can relate. I'll keep you all posted.

Fingers crossed for you! I have one under a hen that's at day 24, so I'm just a little behind you with that one.

Well we can all uncross our fingers on the hatch. I have royally screwed up. SO I wake up and notice that my calendar on my phone pops up with a reminder. So I take a look to see. I was devastated when I saw a reminder to put pea eggs on lockdown TODAY!!!!! They have been on lockdown since SATURDAY!!!!!!! I had an entry on my calendar that said pea eggs lockdown SATURDAY. So I had 2 lockdown dates!!! NOOOOOOOOO!!! I went back to check the dates and recount and the Saturday date was wrong. I am sooooooooo angry!!! I messed this up. I am ready to throw the eggs away, unplug the incubator, clean it up and put it away. I'm done!

But I won't. I'll see this thru and see what happens but I dont see them hatching. 3 days of not being turned. No way they will hatch. They are all probably stuck to the shell. I am so mad that I could bite a nail!!!

Three days of not being turned is not that crucial. Remember that some people only turn once per day, with good results. I will often stop turning all eggs when I have more than one batch going, and have yet to see any effect on hatching rate.

I agree I have locked down eggs early by accident when doing a staggered hatch and they still hatched.. don't give up just yet.

Ok. That makes me feel better. I was about to throw up my hands and give it all up.

I did check the humidity and it was good but I did add more water and I turned them. While doing this, I heard a couple of eggs pipping. The little stinkers are still alive. So, we'll see.
