Peafowl for 2013

Lockdown for my 4 little ole pea eggs is this weekend. I have not candled and will not. I"m not good at candling. I guess I'll wait and see. :/

Also have guinea and turkey eggs in there with them.

Im still envious no eggs yet but mine are only 18 months old and yesterday my peacock started struting with tail up but no yelping yet I just cant wait as soon as the first egg is laid im going to buy a incubator because I've been told the first egg is never fertile a question though should I provide oyster shell with there feed and treats?

I'm no expert, but I do, sure can't hurt.

Good news! Last night we candled the ten eggs that we put in the incubator on Mother's Day and *all * have veins! Have five more that I put under a broody Cochin that I'll candle Wednesday and three plus any that get laid tonight will go under another broody tomorrow.

If you go by the 28 day hatch, mine are do on 6-9, 6-12 and 6-18.

This will be my second year with pea eggs and my first year with an incubator, so it's very exciting for me!

I guess we should get started on building a proper brooder for them, don't want a repeat of last year.

Your birds were hatched in November?

Congrats! Please be careful with the egg under the cochin, she might not site on the egg the whole time. I read here how the chicken stopped sitting almost at the end and the person lost the pea egg
