Peafowl for 2013

I have a question for all of you that sell your peachicks. I have now sold my first 11 that hatched. They ranged in age from a few days old to two weeks old. I had a lady that picked 5 out of the nine I had at the time, and it was her choice to go ahead and pick the 2 day old I. Blue that I had the feet and legs taped for mild splay leg and a crooked toe. They were all eating and doing well in my brooder and she chose it over the older pieds. 24 hours later she is asking for a refund because it was acting weak last night and this morning she couldn't get it to eat or drink and it died. She had her brooder up close to 100 degrees ad they were on thin coating of shaving. I had them in my brooder with paper towels over the wire and a Brinsea brooder. She told me she had raised peafowl before and knew what she was doing. Now wants a refund or another chick. What should I do????
All sales are final, no refunds because what happens to your animal when it leaves my place is now your responsibility.
What happened to the peas she said she had before, I mean they can live over 20 years.

Exactly!!!!

I am a new pea owner in that I have only had peas for 3 years. In those 3 years, I have lost only 1 pea. When I lost that sick pea, I took it to LSU Vet Medical School to find out why it died. The result of the dead pea was from the pea eating an infected earth worm from the ground and getting sick. Now what if I had bought that pea from someone and put that pea in my yard and the same day it ate that infected earthworm and died. What if I had not taken it to the Vet School for a necropsy to find out the reason why the pea died and just "assumed" the seller sold me a sick bird. And what if I contacted that seller for a refund because I thought that he/she sold me a sick bird. That would be wrong on my part because it was not the seller's fault. The fault of the pea's death would be my fault (the buyer) because the bird got sick at my place and died. Same thing with any other buyer. You just don't know what happens when they leave your place.

agreed! when i got my first four, the white got sick and died with in a few days, i didnt even dream of calling the guy i got them from and complaining! i picked them out! she has nerve.

Thanks to everyone for the support. I'm very sad about the little pea that died but know that it was doing well when it left here. I will not give a refund or a replace my chick. Going to write up something for buyers to sign for future sales.

This is a great thing for me to read since I had not thought about a situation like this. I should think about writing something up like that also.
