Peafowl for 2013

FWIW, when I candled the one I could see where it was trying to pip internally, so I made a small hole and saw that it was shrink-wrapped. Once I moistened the membrane I could see that it had a foot over it's head, so I broke the membrane and cleared the area around it's beak. There was still some blood, so I put it back in the incubator, waited 16 hours and then helped it out. Legs and toes look good, but it's head is very swollen, lol.

Poor baby

Here is the chick after I moistened the membrane and made a a hole for it to breath. Look close and you'll see it's foot on top of it's head.

Here it is 16 hours later

That reminds my of my Bronze WE peachick that I wanted to imprint and it died after having similar problems as your chick. Mine however was weak from the beginning...I loved that peachick....

I still feel for you on that one.

One thing I learned this year is how to spot a chick that will die in the egg unless helped and this one would have died in the shell if I had done nothing,

Guys, I have a pied peachick sneezing. I separated her (?) and used vet rx stuff. She is about 2 months old.
I have her and another IB chick in with a turkey poult. I use ACV in all my birds water.
The poult is also sneezing and has nasal clear drainage.. Here we go again UGH, had rain, and a cold snap here in Indiana.
They are all eating and drinking fine, and quite lively.
The farmer near us is harvesting all the corn and bean fields and the dust is just horrible.
Is it allergies, and am I worrying too much?

The 2013 season is officially over for me as my last egg did not hatch. Now it's time to digest what I've learned and come up with a plan for 2014!
