Peafowl Question

I'm just entertaining the idea of getting peafowl since the previous owners of this property had them...

Can they free range or do they need to be caged up or fenced in?

- I wasn't sure if they fly off

Can they live with chickens?

About 2.5 some is woods and some isn't. We are making our chicken run from 3,000 sq ft to 6,000 sq ft in the next few weeks (we have the fenced run because the neighbors dogs come in our yard). We are also building another area for meat chickens.

If peafowl can free range then I'd let them, I just wasn't sure if they go in at night.

We have a local zoo that has peafowl and they free range, I've never heard of any of them getting away but maybe they do.

I can always wait to get them after next year because we plan on buying about 5+ acres. I just wasn't sure if raising them before we move would be better.
