However, I do give mine some chicken feed because we don't have anything else available where we live. But it's definitely not ideal.

Don't give them chicken feed, they need much more protein than what is in chicken feed. I would also keep any chicks you get on wire and not on any kind of bedding. It can work but in my experience keeping them on bedding tends to be a breeding ground for cocci.

I have 3 babies. I don't know much about them yet but they are in with 20 guineas and 5 chicks. They seem to be the sweetest of them all.
