peanut allergies in schools

so you would be ok with your Christian child being taught satanism as the truth in public school as long as the majority of the students are satanists? seriously?

Discussing religion and allowing students to practice their religions is on thing, teachers LEADING children into religious activities is preaching to a captive audience is wrong (Unless of course it is in a private school where parents are paying for that sort of education). Particularly when the captive audience is at a disadvantage, children being taught by an authority figure. Teacher sin public school have no right to indoctrinate another persons child into another religion. that includes putting them into a situation where they are ridiculed for not being apart of a major activity.

And this is WHY the church and state/school are SUPPOSED to be seperate.... too much bickering. Keep your religion at home folks. And i'll do the same..
Dont see whats wrong with that...

ETA: Unless your child is going to a school specific to your chosen religion....

How about politics...There was a whole lot of that going on, 2 years ago.

In the school that my children went to the cafeteria Head and staff all know that there are no peanuts to be served. The classroom has a sign on the wall outside NO NUT CLASSROOM.

The question is just how far does the public school system have to go for one child? What measures are safe and to what extent do they have to be?

No one at the school where my children went have to wash their hands and rinse their mouths as far as I know. Is this really necessary or is the school and the childs parents over reacting. Would a regular regimen of allergy shots help.

I recently had a series of 35 shots to see what I was allergic to. My arm looked like a pin cushion. Then afterwards was given my options, one of which was to come in for allergy shots on a regular basis. Not for months but for years! Well I said screw that, I'll get rid of the cat. If I had a dog he would go too. Fortunately they don't test for chickens.

Then again now that I think of it I'm allergic to ragweed and certain trees. I wonder if I can make the county cut down all the trees and ragweed in the county? No I guess not.

I say serve peanuts on the first day of school and weed out all the kids who are allergic and be done with it! Just kidding folks don't have a stoke.

Life goes on.

I think as long as I knew ahead of time; that they were going to teach the Muslim, Christian, Catholic, Islam, Athiest faiths/beliefs..a brief outline so that
the kids (I'm thinking teens) would know what the main religion belief structure of the US/World is...and I could look over the topic/outline..I dont think
I'd have an issue with that..as long as I knew it wouldnt be taught as the TRUTH..just as a belief others have...

that way I can follow it up with why we believe what we do..and here is why we do...

I think I'd be able to deal with that...

altho; you didnt ask me lol..

the thing is does your child's religion require specifically that they must have prayer time during school hours as Muslims do? if so the school must accommodate. (as long as it's reasonable.) If they don't you have a right to legal action. And even though you have winter parties but not Christmas parties you still get Christmas break while many other religions must be counted absent and even risk being punished for too many absences to observe their holidays.
The truth is, Christian holidays are largely accommodated while non Christian holidays, are largely not.

I say we may have to agree to disagree on points.

we dont get christmas break...
just like Easter break; is spring break...

but I say potato/you say potato..

its all good...

I for one am still in school. We used to say the Lord's prayer every morning when we sang O'Canada. Then one family moved in who didn't like that and we can't say it anymore. A school of 400 kids in favor of saying it, and one thats not. Where's the sense in that?

The who peanut issue is also ridiculous, my cousins school doesnt let you bring homebaked goods into the school period because you can't guarentee they are peanut free. Instead they make the kids go out and guy the junk from the store for their lunches. If someone is so alergic the other kids are forced to wash their hand and mouths 3x per day then they should not be in a public school. Plain and simple, make the other kids to that kinda stuff for the handful that are alergic?

it only makes no sense to you as long as your in the majority, it makes sense if you are the minority being told what religion to pray to
