peanut allergies in schools

Good grief, folks. This is the end result of politcal correctness, run amuck.

First off, society needs to deal with this whole allergy thing...The why where and how....I simply don't remember anyone going into aniphylactic shock, from consuming a peanut butter sandwich, as a kid, and as I recall, at least one day a week, it was on the lunch menu....How very strange that out of all the numbers of pbj's noone fell over dead.

Point being, there is, obviously, something else going on here, which isn't being addressed, on a medical level....Personally, I think it's the aniseptically pure lifestyle we try to lead...We live, drive and work in purified environments, and the body's natural defenses never get a chance to do what they are supposed to do.

But no, instead of actually dealing with the problem, we decide to hold 98% of the population hostage, so that one poor child can live his life, uninterrupted.

This one issue is just the tip of the iceburg, in the stupidity, which has become our educational system. Games of elimination are removed from the playground, because, God forbid, there should be one winner and 25 losers, therefore we will all be losers, but we'll get a ribbon telling us, we are all winners.

Now try not to faint, but you said something here that I completely agree with. I'm going to step up onto my soap box for just a minute. I'm not talking about allergies though, I'm talking about groups that hold our classrooms hostage. If I have 25 students, and 1's religion does not observe Christmas, then 25 others can't. Ok,, so why aren't these 24 parents getting as loud and obnoxious as the 1 parent who wants to run things? There are several things I can think of that I can't teach because 1 out of 25 students doesn't believe in creationism and Heaven's forbid we upset 1 family. What about the other 24 families????????????????????????????????
This politically correct garbage needs to stop and let me teach my darn classroom and how about back to Majority Rules! Not the loudest rules who holds the school districts in fear of being sued for teaching the students!!!
Ok, off the box.

So you think that because the majority of your classroom believes in Jesus that you should be able to teach Christianity in your classroom? Wow. I'm glad my children will never be in the classroom of a teacher who thinks that way.

Why can't Christmas and creationism be taught by parents and churches? Why should it be taught in school?

Where did I say teach squat????? Do not put words in my mouth again. Letting children have Christmas decorations is not teaching Christianity unless I do a lesson on it. And I don't.
I am also glad your children will never be in my classroom.

Heaven forbid I think that means you would like to teach things having to do with creationism.

I guess for the same reason why my child who doesnt believe in the big bang theory should be taught that God didnt create the universe/earth...

I have to say; and I'm sure i'm gonna get reamed for it..but I hope ppl take it the way I mean it to be read as, as we know its hard to get the right
point across w/o sounding rude...

and i'm not TRYING TO BE RUDE AT ALL...

Christianity is one of the religions that get bashed all of the time...We Christians who practice Christmas have recently had to give up
Christmas celebrations in school and they turned it into Winter parties..Ok fine...but then when a child asks WHAT christmas is for...
to the teacher..they can't answer?? thats wrong.. IMO...

My son couldnt have prayer time during school; but a child who chooses to pray the 5 times a day as practicing Muslim; gets to do it..

GOODNESS KNOWS WE CANT OFFEND THEM OR ANYONE ELSE...

and please know I am NOT targeting Muslim followers; it is just the one that came to me as I was typing..WE ALL have different ways etc..

I just wish ppl would let ppl be who they are but have a basic rule about it upfront...it is IMPOSSIBLE to comform to every diff. religion
just like it is impossible to protect every child w/allergies...

oh I do have to say too; that I appreciate teachers teaching other things than our beliefs...only because it lets my child understand the thinkings of others...
and I can educate and answer questions as best I can with it...and re-iterate what we believe in...and as my child gets older...they can choose their belief...
and if I did my job correctly, they will understand exactly what they are choosing and why

I don't know a single school that can legally tell your child they can't sit at their desk and pray to themselves.

With that, I will bow out of this conversation as it has strayed far from the original topic and I am obviously stepping on toes.

ahh..you arent stepping on MY toes....

no..they can't tell them..but they dont give them time too do so...
but the muslim faith they allow to leave if they want and go quietly to pray...

but mind you..you def. arent stepping on my toes!!! We're good!
