Pecking injury...

Interesting that she's picked at herself on the other side. Hopefully the BluKote will help, if not, then try Pine Tar. I've never used it, but hear good things about it and it's on my list of "things to have on hand" when I get around to it LOL I don't keep many things.
I have no issues with using BluKote, to me, it's good stuff - I'm a fan of using products I already have so usually make do.
Hopefully you can capture something on the cam and figure out what's going on.
The only other thing I can think of would be Feather Mites, but generally the bird strips their feathers before the end up wounding themselves - so I don't really see that.
Could be they found a bad habit and it needs to be broken - keeping busy may help too.

Popcorn was actively bleeding this evening when I went to check on everyone. So, I ran to Rural King and bought a dog crate. She is now in that, in my garage. Hubby does not want a chicken in the house and I don't blame him. She has food and water and this way, she is seperated from Cinnamon and everyone else. So, she should heal good. Cinnamon was no worse when I put neosporin on her. Hopefully she can get better in the coop, Popcorn can get better in my garage and all this drama can stop! It's only been two days but I feel exhausted from these ladies! In all my years of chicken keeping, I've never had any issues like this. Mild bumble foot and that was it. On another note, Rural King had chicks so of course I had to look. They had guinea chicks! They were so cute! They had them in the same bin as cornish crosses, they looked just like chicken chicks! I don't think I've ever seen guinea chicks before. And no, I am not a victim of chicken math so no worries about me buying more chicks!😋

And I did buy a bale of straw but they started eating it right away so I didn't put much down. Last thing I need is an impacted crop! I will put out some grit for them even though they are on bare ground and put some more straw down tomorrow. I did buy them a Flock Block and cut some into chunky pieces for them to occupy themselves. Saving the rest for another time, don't want them to eat more treats than they should

Hopefully she will heal just fine.
Sometimes things come all at once it seems.
Yes! Mine start eating straw/picking out pieces of seeds, etc. when I put fresh straw out. I'm one of those people that thinks you need to provide grit even if you lived on a rock pile, sooo

I've never tried a flock block - looks like something mine would stand at and eat all day and ignore their feed. Good call on splitting it up.

Let us know how it goes.

Well, both girls are the same as yesterday. No better, no worse. Both got treated with neosporin and I put goodies in the coop for the girls to occupy themselves. We are in a winter storm warning until tomorrow afternoon. Lots of snow coming so they won't go out in the run. And Popcorn hasn't laid an egg since Saturday

More snow!:(
So, it blows in? Only on one side or on all sides? Probably not helpful for this go round, but something I would consider in the future is put up a tarp or even staple plastic the first what...like 4-5' up around the run to help keep blowing snow out - that will also block wind which will make it more comfortable for them to venture out.

Yes, it blows in on all sides. If you look at the picture of the coop and run I posted earlier, you can actually see that the hardware cloth is pretty covered in snow. Yeah, pitting tarps up was on our to do list but it never happened

Well, it's musical chairs, chicken style, at my house this week. Cinnamon(brown one) was actively bleeding and Popcorn looked better, so I switched them. Cinnamon is now in my garage in the dog crate and Popcorn is back in the coop. Wish I could have both of them seperated but I don't have the resources for that. Popcorn did lay a pretty egg for me! I know Cinnamon laid today too, I got six eggs and one had blood on it, from Cinnamon's wounds. And I know for a fact that she is pecking at her own wounds. Not only have I seen her, she also had blood on her comb and her comb is not injured. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop her from pecking herself? I didn't see blood on anyone else so I don't think they were getting her. I just don't know what else to do. Both girls got their neosporin treatment and I cleaned Cinnamon up. How do the wounds look? Hope the pictures are ok. Pictures are of both girls, both sides
