Pedialyte

I'm afraid I don't know for certain, but here's a bump so someone who does know can answer!

I didn't seen an answer, but here's what I plan to do. It's 98 here in Indiana, with a heat index of 109 at the moment. I have pedialyte popsicles that I'm going to unwrap and see if they will peck at them a bit. They all hunker down in front of the fan, but I know they need something because of the heat.

Anyone else have any ideas? Mine are 10 weeks as well, and just look miserable.

I see no problem with giving the chickens pedialyte, I do it all the time.

You can easily make your own, as pedialyte is really just water, salt, and sugar. Sometimes they add flavor and food coloring but that is not necessary.

Recipe!

Ingredients:

1 quart of water
2-4 teaspoons of sugar (or 1-2 teaspoons of fructose)
1 teaspoon of salt

Directions:

Boil water, add sugar (or fructose) and salt, then stir. Let it cool down.

Don't give it for more than 24 hours though, because the salt causes diarrhea. I usually wait a few days in between pedialyte treatments.

Hope I helped!
