It dosnt sound so good but I am very very new to this chicken thing and have a small list of my own issues so I cant say really one way or the other I just wanted to answer you so you knew someone was listening. Hopefully somoene who knows something will get on and help you soon.
I got up this morning and she still the same no better no worse. Shes not really struggling to breathe but she is having trouble it looks like to me. She drinks fine eats fine it looks uncomfortable.
Lifts her head opens her beak and takes a breath every time even when shes lying down.
You can hear her when she breathes a little almost popping sound.
Will you both look at my post from this morning under author search "JenMT". Does this sound like how your chick started out? Have you given her any antibiotics? If not are you even going to mess with any? I'd like to save my girl if I can. What do you think?
Jen
vicegrip, is it like a crackling noise you are hearing? If so, she's probably got a respiratory infection and needs to be separated from the rest of your peeps so they don't catch it. You do have them under a heat lamp, in a draft-free brooder?
Mine aren't under a heat lamp anymore, yesterday I was told to remove it because they were too old at 25 days. Should I put it back on the isolated sick girl? I guess that if she is warm that she must have a fever and the heat lamp will help. I am not hearing any crackling noises from my little gal. She doesn't sound as sick as vicegrips does. Thanks
She eats fine drinks fine scratches at the floor fine. She just has to lift he head and open her mouth to breath. I think they are about 1 week old. They are under a heat light on half of the brooder (88 degrees) and the other half is shade (72 degrees) no draft they all sleep under the light and ply around on both sides. My wife is in town getting antibiotics a couple of deferent types. If some one could tell me what kind is better for these symptoms it would be great. Thank you for helping us we really appreciate it
