Peep peep- Hatching right now!

Last fall I tried to hatch some eggs and nothing even developed, total user error on my part.

3 weeks ago I decided to give it another go. Last night (day 18) I put the incubator in lock down and this morning I see 2 little chicks have hatched! (A bit early, it's only day 19!)

30 something more eggs to go. I am thrilled though...2 chicks is double what I hatched last year, haha!

So far 3 have hatched and I can see 2 more pipping. Totally surprised because today is only day 19. Any insight to why they're hatching early? They are all a barnyard mix of heritage breeds.

Some strains hatch early. In an average hatch, with perfect temps, you are likely to get a few on day 20, most on day 21, and a few laggers on day 22. If you set eggs on a Thursday, your day 21 would also be a Thursday. Have you counted right?

I would MUCH rather have early hatchers than late hatchers.
