We’re trying our hand at hatching Guineas and they’ve been in the incubator about 22-23 days. (I lost track of days honestly)
Yesterday I candled the eggs and saw what I thought was abnormally large air sacs. I was worried because it seems the eggs were either farther than I thought or the humidity was too low.
I put an external thermometer in the incubator, our incubator is automated and has temp and humidity regulations. The thermometer read 10% lower on humidity so I’ve been adding a little bit more humidity to the incubator.
Well I decided to candle just on more time and was met with a rocking and pipping egg.
How can this be when guinea fowl are supposed to hatch on day 28? Is it going to be ok?
I removed the turner and put the entire batch into early lockdown and raised the humidity even more so it’s at hatching humidity.
They were shipped to us. Received to us on July 10th, shipped on July 8th, and I didn’t know the 24 hr rule before putting them into the incubator.
