@Erba
I am sorry! Sometimes you just don't know why things happen. If there are 2 roos and 2 hens you can split them up into breeding groups and start from there. It will work! I'll keep my eyes open for a breeder in your area as well.
Congrats!! The first egg!!! They are so special! YAY!!!

And yes!! Chickens are racists! Big time!! I have seen it in pictures and heard
about it so often! But it's true!

Well are we the lucky one! And you heard nothing? We got hit rather well. More in my next post.
I have admit I don’t watch or listen to local news. I hear usually from other locals if something big is happening. So I thought someone would of said some big storm was blowing through Europe. I watch american news, still watch the today show the day after on the NBC app. Makes me feel like I’m still in the USA.

3.... 2...1.... lockdown! We have lockdown!!! :wee
Took out one more egg that was definitly clear. One I have marked with a "x" because I am not sure if it's not a quitter... and one is marked because the air bubble is on the side instead of on top. It probably won't hatch. Other than that it's going great! I saw movement while I candled in most.. or at least pulsating in the veins. So if I calculated correctly, there are 45 eggs left.

The Bielefelder are doing really well. There was lots of movement. Let's hope for hens... 4 hens :fl

And yes... I already have 35+ probably more than 40 eggs ready to go in again on Sunday after the hatch is done. :eek:

Here are pictures of the two trays I can get good pictures of. My husband built me some baskets to cover the trays with... first to keep breeding groups serperate... and to keep them from falling down in the front. I do need to get me some covered ones from Heka. Those baskets are a pain in the behind to deal with.

Congrats with your first. :pop A whole day chicken tv. 🤩
Wait for a few more to come out. I think you can take him and the other ones who hatch today, out this evening. Opening the incubator once a day shouldn't be a problem (was reading this somewhere. I have no experience with incubators myself).

congrats!

you can take him out. I thought no chicks would have hatched (day 23) and switched the incubator off. an hour later when the temperature dropped and humidity was 90% 1 chicken maneged to hatch.

btw, a friend of mine opens her incubator daily. her vet suggested it as the hached chicks need oxygen. (she has a 800 egg incubator.)
