Thank you.

I imeditaly desinfected and threw out what I could. I than informed everyone around me with chickens. But no one seems to know how long the virus can stay on your propperty. The info I can find is very contrary, from 2 months to a year. I'm curious to what the vet will say about it next week.

in a hot climate marek's virus might survive for over a year. it cannot survive temperature below 0. it is resistant to some disinfectants (quaternary ammonium and phenol).

I received an email last night. The main specialty show for Sulmtaler will be in Erfurt instead of Kassel (Kaufungen). It will be in November... 3 weeks later than the one in Kassel would have been. I guess I am going to show 2 or 3 roosters and 3-4 hens. Now I am getting nervous!!
Sorry, had to get it off my chest! :wee :wee :wee
Let's hope Corona doesn't change it yet again... lots of small shows are being canceled due to restrictions.

Because this Covid-19 is spreading fast towards a second wave its good to have in mind that perhaps it will be cancelled. Spain is in some kind of lock down again. People coming back now from their summer holidays have to go in self quarantine for 10 days.

Where I live student introduction weeks let to an outbreak. The normal introductions where forbidden, but even with all the restrictionists it was not a good idea to gather 18 year old students. :(

But my chickens don’t mind. They can free range more often because of all this 💩.

oh yes.. I know... that's why I said "lets hope Corona doesn't change it yet again".
Even though I know it to be possible... I still have lots of hope that it will happen! I hope people have some sense before everything gets locked down again... For more reasons than my poultry show.

I have to show you my chicks again. My goodness the cuteness is distracting and they are getting their wing feathers now. I can' wait to see how they each grow out. Another question I have is about my roosters. One is the lowest in the pecking order, but from looks he is the best, the other two have a slight yellowing on their necks. He is a little thin, because his brothers won't let him eat, so he tends hang out with the pullets and cockerels and eats whats left with them. So do you think if I break up the dynamic by getting rid of one of the thugs, he'd gain weight and fill out?

If that is so, I think I will keep him. My head is saying he is too thin next to his brothers, they are both whoppers. But the yellowing on their necks really bugs me, if I breed with them. I didn't notice the guy I bought the eggs from, (the one I drove to), had the same yellowing on his rooster. I only noticed when someone in the FB group pointed it out. That rooster also had a breeding ring on. I now just might dispatch of both, but is a bit of a risk if Mr Mobbed doesn't fill out.
