I remember someone got a good italian incubator but I don't remember the brand. it starts with B if I remember well.

what incubators do you have? I might be getting one for my new place and I need a 12 v one (to work with battery).
I have two Heka incubators. One holds about 90 Sulmtaler eggs.. the other 126. The smaller one is used just for hatching... the other just for setting.

5 out of 8 pekins already hatched! on the other hand just 1 is a girl for sure, there is a little hope that another one might be a girl. I heard another internal pipping.

did anyone on this thread post a pic of barred chicks, male and female? my chicks are all barred/ black. their mom is barred and dad white. as there are no white chicks so far he must be recessive white.

I was wondering how you could tell but then you mentioned the barring... now I am wondering if you can tell if Dad is white. The reason you can tell with barring is that the rooster gets both barring genes... the girls don't. So if Dad is white, you might not be able to tell. But there are people who know genes much better than me... it was just a thought. Maybe there is hope after all for more girls.

Well, I candled the eggs last night and had to take out 8. So 65 went into lockdown. Had to play Tetris to make them fit into the covered hatching tray. I had 4 wheaten colored breeding groups and 2 white ones. As well as special eggs where I know the mothers (I watched them lay the egg) One egg had to go with the unknown mothers.. I had no more room. With some I had a feeling, that they were not developed properly... We'll see... Latest Tuesday I will take them out... when they get their Marek's shot.
