@maceleneo A few changes in their names might do the trick. Like Edwina and Santa Polla?

@AnnaWolf . Toos is Dutch isn’t she? They are not hard to break. Some tips :
  • Take away the eggs asap. No fake eggs in the nest.
  • ‘Kick’ her out the nest as much as possible during the day.
  • Close the nestbox she wants to settle if you have another one or create another temporary one in a different corner with a cardboard box.
  • Close nestboxes in the evening and make sure she’s roosting.
  • Put her up the roost if she settles in a nestbox/on the floor.
P.s. lots of people use the wire cage method. But I don’t like to. It seems quit cruel and my Dutch never needed it.

ps2: don’t forget to open the nestbox after dark again.

Yes she is and a sweety when I pick her up, just growls a bit.
I did all the things you said, but she is stubborn when I turn my back she goes right back to the coop. Nugget is exploring the nest box for her first egg.
So I think I have to setup a bench, to avoid some problems, but I'm sur that will give it's own problems.

thank you! they both have male names, but I really hope you are right!
the bearded one is edgar allan pio ("pio" means "cheep" in italian) and the other one is sante pollastro (sante pollastro was a male bandit from the past century.. "pollastro" means cockerel). I can't see male signs either, but these are pea combs and they are so tricky to me! with single combs things seems easier! 😳 😊
I was hoping that chicks born here would be super tame and confident, but they are not at all! 😅 they are starting to eat food from my hands only now, I hope things will get better with time!

with pea combs we watch colour. if starts to get red from 6+ wo they are cockerels. pullets have pale combs till point of lay.

thank you! when I get my marans they were unsexed, they turned out to be all females but their combs were still much more yellow when they were 10 weeks old! these 2 chicks have pale combs... but it's a pale pink! I guess this vary based on breed and comb type, right?

it means holy hen! santa claus is not a saint in italy, we call him "daddy christmas"!
Sometimes Google Translate really sucks. Translating holy hen into Santa Claus. :lau

We have a SinterKlaas (Our Santa Claus which is different , he has his birthday on the 5th of december, comes by boat from Spain and travels on a white horse over rooftops. They say he gives all the presents to the children.

With X-mass we have a kerstman too🎅 like the Santa in the US. But this is mainly for the elder people who like give presents to each other. And the date is more convenient bc its a Holliday and families gather anyway.
