how many seasons have you got where you live? it seems we have winter and summer only.

According to the locals we get all four seasons but as a transplant from Chicago I beg to differ! There is no real winter here but they are forgiven for not knowing what polar vortex with -40c feels like compared to this year's low here in Kerry of 4c. I would say we get spring/summerish/fall with rain being the biggest impact to chicken keeping.

@Honora we love it! Yes the minor small town adjustments [like shops closing sooooo early in the evening!!!] were an adjustment but we are so conveniently located that we can make runs to one of several cities to reach a 'shopping mall' easily. So far all the adjustments have been well worth the reduced stress lifestyle and friendly accepting neighbors. [We are tRump refugees who fled for the safety of our Guatemalan born children, one of whom is transgender.] Helped greatly that my husband is Castleisland born and we had traveled back here on vacations to visit family often enough that the children[well now 18 & 21yo LOL] were mentally prepared for the change in lifestyle.

not from Europe, but we have two, 6 months of winter and 6 months of summer (lucky if we get 6 nice months haha)

but it can get up to about -50C here where i live. how cold does it get in Greece? if you don't mind me asking.

where I live we get -2/3 for about 2 hours early morning, maybe 2-3 days in january. our winter is windy so the feeling might be like -5 even if it is +5.

there are places in greece where the low is about -20.

Yes, it was a good time to leave the U.S. My kids are 7, 10 and 12, and I don't want to have to worry about school shootings. My husband is also from Ireland & we bought a house in the small town where his family lives. Not sure if that was such a good idea in retrospect, lol!
Well, my eggs are in the 'bator now so fingers crossed I get some chicks!

good grief! it's below average for the time of year here, down around 15... seems to suit the chickens very well though, as long as it doesn't rain all day, like it did yesterday :th
